With the Multiringing (MR) service several additional (extra) SIM cards and terminals can share the same (main) identification number. Customers can have separate devices, for example a mobile phone, a car phone, a PC based desktop phone, all associated with the same GSM identification and subscription.

The MR service subscriber can be reached simultaneously on all of the devices in her subscription. Sequential ringing between the terminals is also possible if configured. The subscriber can be operating a mobile handset at the same time as transferring data or browsing the net with her laptop and data card. The MR service subscriber is always presented to the called party by her main identification number regardless of which terminal has been used when initiating the call.

Multiringing service and the corresponding multimobile subscription bundles present an opportunity to lock in the customers and encourage usage through attractive pricing and by getting another phone in their hands.

Applicata Multiringing  solution resides in IP Multimedia network (IMS). It comprises specific settings of the related nodes in the IMS and GSM networks and a dedicated MR application which provides the service specific logic. MR application runs in Oracle Communications Convergent Application Server (OCCAS).

The solution replaces the conventional call routing scenario for calls towards and from the subscribers who subscribe for the MRMS service. The MR solution generates several parallel calls to all terminal devices registered by the called party for the service. The solution manages the ring-back tones towards the calling party in accordance to the availability of the terminals involved in the call. The user is free to select one of the available terminals for answering an inbound call, the remaining terminals devices will stop ringing after the call is taken.
